Tourism Day was established by The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) to promote sustainable, responsible, and universally accessible tourism. Tourism benefits both the tourist and the locations that they visit, and is one of the major drivers of economic growth. To this end they’ve put together the Global Code of Ethics for Tourism, to help increase the benefits of tourism while minimizing its impact and protected the people, cultures, and environments of the locations people go to visit and experience.
World Tourism Day takes place each year on 27 September. The theme for 2019 is “Tourism and jobs” A better future for all.
Yoruba Tourism Club has unveil plans to commemorate the world tourism day in Ekiti 28th September 2019 with a one day event tagged ‘eXploring Ekiti series 1.0’
In an official statement made by the president Ogbeni Jide Fajuyi to African Development Magazine, he noted that purpose of tourism day is to raise awareness on the role of tourism within the international community and to demonstrate how it affects social, cultural, political and economic values worldwide
“The Yoruba Tourism Club will be celebrating the event is two phase, at the early part of 28th september there will be a Hike and Trailing the traditional footpath from Ikere-Èkìtì to Igìrìgírí Farm settlement, Adó-Èkìtì, and later a picnic that will feature lots of events like Games(PaintBalling,Ayo Olopon,Arin,Dart,Draft.), StoryTelling, Buffet(IndigeniousDishes), FacePainting, PhotoshootSessions, and many more at igirigiri farm settlement in Ado-Ekiti
“The event will be aided by professional tour guides and medical teams for perfect safety measures, indegineous food vendors for maximum enjoyment and armed security agents for 100% security.
