Brightville College that produced many youngsters for the country which includes new Eaglets’ sensation, Akinkunmi Amao maintained dominance by winning the girls category in the Southwest Secondary Schools Medley Relay with a wide gap during the annual sports meet of the school held inside the main-bowl of Lekan Salami Sports Complex Ibadan over the weekend.
St Anne’s College Molete Ibadan emerged the runners-up in the female while Government College Ibadan wins the boys category to cart home the cash award and education materials. Medley relay is a race in which individual members of a team usually run an unequal portion of the total distance.
Red house emerged overall winner with 14 gold, 3 silver and 17bronze medals in the secondary school, category while Yellow house emerged second with 9gold,4silver and 5bronze.Green house came close this with 3gold 7silver and 3gold medals.
In the Invited school relay which involved schools from South/West geo political zone of the country, Saint Anne’s school Molete emerged first and followed by Trailblazers College Ilesa, Osun state in female while the male category was won by Government College Ibadan as Deril Academy came closely second.
The proprietor and chairman of Oyo State Athletics Association, Dr Isaac Friday Ogada in his remark expressed satisfaction on the outcome and performance of the children, saying a lot if athletes discovered will be invited to fight for a slot to represent Oyo state at the National Youth Games scheduled for later in the year.
Among dignitaries in attendance was the chairman of Osun State Athletics Association, Elder Ademola Adigun, representative of Vice Chancellor, Lead City University Ibadan Kabiru Aderemi Adeyemo as well as representative of National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools, (NAPPS) Oyo State among others.
