Don calls for resuscitation of moribund sites in Epe division

Dr Nasir Onibon, the Provost, Michael Otedola College of Education (MOCPED), has called on the present administration led by Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos state to resuscitate the moribund sites in Epe division.

Onibon made the appeal on Thursday at Epe stakeholders meeting held in the institution, in Noforija-Epe, Lagos state. He said that the stakeholders’ forum was jointly organised by Concerned Nation Builders Initiative (CNI) and the institution.

He said that the theme of the event, tagged,” Next level: Whither Epe Division “.

The provost said that the development became necessary in other to boost commercial activities in the communities and to create employment opportunity for the indigents and also mentioned some of the abandoned sites as; Epe plywood, Oluwo fish market, boats yard, Adebowale lamp industry, sungbo Eredo, Ejirin market and other tourists attractions.

According to him, Epe division still needed government attention to complete the uncompleted project done by the previous administration.

“The ancient community is full of enormous investment opportunity that can transform the division to a mega city, Epe land is fertile and suitable for agriculture. The forest provides raw material for veritable boat building industry,” he said.

He expressed his displeasure over the backwardness of Epe division among other divisional areas of Lagos state and also stated that Ikorodu, Badagry, Lagos Island and Ikeja division had surpassed Epe division in the areas of infrastructure development.

Onibon commended the past administration of Lagos state government, led by former Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode for providing Epe division with some basic infrastructure.

He mentioned the basic amenities needed for this next level government, led by President Muhammadu Buhari, to includes; strong functional institutions that can stand the test of time while others as; accessible and motorable roads, constant power supply, regular supply of pipe borne water, affordable and qualitative education.

Also, enabling environment for business to grow, improved and accessible health services, ease transportation system, improved security of lives and properties.

Also, Mr Idris Tele-Olukoya, President, Concerned Nation Builders Initiative (CNI), appealed to Lagos state government to be proactive in addressing the situations of infrastructure needs in Epe.

“Epe division is yet to enjoy the full dividend of democracy.

“We implore the incumbent government to to take infrastructure development and security matters seriously in the state.

“Education sector, Agricultural sector and Health sector should be taking with upper most care, ” he said.

In the same vein, Oba Babatunde Ogunlaja, the Aladeshoyin of Noforija, urged the government to improve on security surveillance in the division and emphasize on protections of lives and properties should be government top priority.

The monarch appealed to the members representing the division at the state and federal level to be upright in discharging their mandates

He urged the present administration of Lagos state, led by Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the Deputy Gov. Obafemi Hamzat to fulfill their campaign promises for Epe division people and to the people of Lagos state at large.

Earlier, Mr Philips Ikuseyidunmi, the Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Eredo branch, enjoined political leaders to imbibe the spirit of godliness and truthfulness in their dealings.

“The fear of God is the beginning of righteousness. I implore all political office holders to have the fear of God in their minds and give citizens their right to live.
Ikuseyidunmi said that if the spirit of the lord could be upheld, the nation would move forward and the society would be a better place to live.
